Salamaat,
This was submitted by a dear brother of mine, Hanif Rehman…
Not sure whether you’d want to add this but I was thinking of random acts of kindness today. I took my angels(daughters) to the local park, since the day was bright and beautiful. Sadly when we got to the local park it was still damp with pools of rain and mud where it had rained heavily the night before.
In the park there were a number of young kids, just milling around, one of them was had his hands outstretched and the others were comforting him. I asked what the problem was and they said his cut his hands and needs some aid.
I asked him would you like to come to my house but he said no, I said ok I’ll bring you some wipes and band aid. Couple of minutes later I bought the wipes round and band aid. The kids took them off my hands gleefully, they must have said ‘Thank you’ for a continuous minute or two. I thanked Allah that he made me do an act that seemed so small yet who knows Yes they were white kids and not Muslims, and I do live in an area where you can say that there is some tension in the air. The July bombings we had in London last year, well one of the ring leaders came from Dewsbury, hardly surprising if people feel a little uneasy.

I am surprised that one would descibe an event and mention the colour of the boys. I don’t mean to offend anyone but we should simply write “children or kids were happy”.Colour should not be mentioned as it is not important.
It gives the impression of discrimination.
I didn’t notice the title of your paragraph when I posted the message above. What does this title “kill” them with kindness mean? Is this your thought about the people around you and their children? Which one did you thank Allah for YOUR great “mentionable on a blog” act of kindness or for this thought “kill them with kindness?”
Why am I surprised though? Few words can paint a picture of a person’s mind, thoughts, personality and their character. I will not be reading this blog anymore but I will be curious what Irving has to say about this. I found this through “Dervish” blog because I like to read on Sufism. I might as well stop reading these blogs of contradicting remarks..
Remember one thing though God takes away from people what they don’t appreciate. There is NO Islamic country which allows any western people to migrate there, work, practice their own religion and enjoy everything the way west has allowed you. They can easily say “get out” just like Idi Amin did from Uganda.
Salamaat SK!
I hope you at least read this response before leaving for good…I am really sorry, but you must have completely misunderstood…I wanted to play on the cliche’ “kill them with kindness…”; and I put the “kill” in quotation marks to show not LITERALLY kill them…but I meant overwhelm them with kindness.
The color was mentioned because they live in a racially tense environment. Of course color shouldn’t matter with children *or* adults but it does. Unfortunately our kids learn our prejudices and most of the fear and confusion is simply passed down.
This blog was created with a really clear intention of carrying out acts of kindness freely and abundantly…because God is Kind and Beautiful and Loves Beauty.
I am sorry to break this down to you this way SK, the west does no one any favors. Some of us were born here and are of the West…so when you do suggest to “get out”; pray where do you expect us to go? And those who didn’t are participating in the very fabric and economy of this society. Our presence is as integral to the west as anyone else’s. And this country was founded on immigrant’s backs; whether forced slavery or pilgrims; whether the first generation Irish/polish/etc. The point is; unless you are straight up purely Native American; you have no right to tell anyone to go “home”.
I am sorry, it seems like you came here with your own ideas and suppositions about Muslims; and couldn’t wait to vent out your own frustrations. YOu see the word “kill” and can’t get past the irony and humor; because OF COURSE a Muslim said it…and we all know Muslims have no sense of humor.
So let me just make this clear; the intention of this blog was to give and give freely. And if your mindset refuses you to see beauty even when it’s smacking you in the face; then I am really sorry; perhaps you are right; this space is just not for you.
God bless and peace to you and your loved ones.
